Danny Newman, arts marketing guru, passes away.

Danny Newman is the (generally acknowledged) inventor of season subscriptions in the arts, ticket sales that last for an entire year rather than for single performances. Sounds basic, but he published this book about it in 1977 and it kind of turned non-profits on their heads and helped them start making real money. It’s become somewhat of an arts marketing bible, so as with any patron saint (get it?) he will be missed.

Now if only someone could make season subscriptions attractive/available to youth today…
